Following the enormous promise they showed on their (almost) burst your brains perfect third effort, Skying, The Horrors return with their slick, far more electronic-heavy fourth album, Luminous.
The Horrors are continually reinventing their own sound, and they haven’t bucked that trend on Luminous.
Perhaps the most surprising revelation with Luminous is just how dance floor-bound it sounds. The Horrors have, with their dense layers of synthesized sound and sultry bass lines, genuinely made music that you could dance to. Also, get ready for the opening three-track salvo on Luminous – it is just buffalo-combusting good.
Apart from the minor mid-album dud note of Jealous Sun, Luminous is further proof that The Horrors are one of the most exciting British bands going.
