Cambodian Space Project are, as the name suggests, a bit unusual. With their wailing Khmer vocals, jangling guitars, occasional roaring brass and surging organs underpinning the group’s sound, the whole feel of the album is, at first, quite fun. You might be able to dance to this, and this is particularly evident on the album’s best track, Rom Rom Rom.
The appeal of pop-rock outfit Cambodian Space Project is just how odd they are, but this novelty wears off very quickly. The relentless onslaught of the horrid, awful yowling vocals drill into your skull, and combined with the abysmal If You Go I Go Too, it all proves to be too painful to enjoy. Which is a shame.
