First they came with a Miley Cyrus sample, and now they’ve gone all blues-y on us. Alt-J continues to surprise, and for this new single at least, gone is the intricately crafted alt-pop of their debut, replaced by a grittier, Southern-rock spunk. I never though I’d say this, but, with this track as evidence, alt-J have swagger. Yes, the band who named themselves after a Mac keyboard shortcut have swagger. The Leeds boys have left-footed us again, and I couldn’t be happier about it – even if this is just a one-off to appease their big-single hungry label.
